Since each child is the sum of what he/she has absorbed and been
taught since infancy, combined with his or her own unique set of inborn
characteristics, I must include parents as well as children and teachers
if I am to achieve the goal of providing the best possible learning
environment for my students.
I strive to create an environment where students feel they are loved
and respected as valuable persons and children of God, where they can try
and fail, and try again, with the certain knowledge that their efforts are
appreciated and that help is there when they need it. In this way,
self-esteem is maintained and confidence acquired.
Students become learners, willing to try new things and not afraid
of failure. This attitude is
helpful in the world of today, but an absolute necessity in the world of
tomorrow.
My goal is to provide opportunities for each child to realize his/her
greatest potential in order to become a responsible productive citizen. A
cooperative effort of the home, school and community is necessary to
provide the maximum intellectual, physical, emotional and social
development of our students. I
believe that all children can learn in an environment where learning is
made interesting, fun and meaningful.
I will strive to treat each child with dignity, respect and
appreciation for his/her individual contributions.
I believe . . .
· in the limitless potential of our children· that learning is a lifelong process· that all children can experience academic and social success· in attaining the highest level of expectations for students and staff· in the empowerment of students to encourage self-initiated independent exploration (pursuit) of knowledge· in creating a safe climate that encourages creativity, positive self-esteem, cooperation, responsibility and respect for one another to become successful productive members of society· in developmentally appropriate, child-centered, discovery-oriented curriculum that applies to real life experiences· in learning that supports the cognitive (intellectual), social, emotional, spiritual, and physical abilities of the whole child·
that my classroom is an integral part of the community, and
that each parent and child is an important part of the school family.
